What is Wander Bot?

Wander Bot is a free AI travel journaling app. You upload your travel photos and it automatically extracts GPS and EXIF data, groups the photos into places, and writes a personalized travel story for each location. Your trips are also visualized on an interactive 3D globe.

How does Wander Bot create travel stories from photos?

When you upload photos, Wander Bot reads the embedded GPS and EXIF metadata, reverse-geocodes the coordinates, detects landmarks with AI vision, groups nearby photos into places, and then generates an AI-written blog post for each place in your chosen tone and language.

Is Wander Bot free?

Yes. Wander Bot is free to start with no credit card required — up to 500 photos, unlimited trips, and as many AI travel stories as you like. A paid plan with higher limits is coming.

Do I have to tag locations manually?

No. Wander Bot reads the GPS coordinates already stored in your photos and places them on the map automatically.

Can I edit or regenerate the AI-written stories?

Yes. Every AI-generated post is fully editable, and you can regenerate any story with one click.

Who we are

Wander Bot is operated by Cloud & Code Consulting, a sole proprietorship established at Pelikaanstraat 12, 2312 DW Leiden, the Netherlands (KvK 77466950, VAT/BTW NL003196845B26), which is the data controller. Privacy contact: [email protected].

Data we collect

Account and profile data (email address, any display name you set, and basic profile info from Google, Apple or Microsoft if you sign in with them); photos you upload; location and image metadata (EXIF/GPS); content you create (trip names, notes, instructions); billing data for purchases (processed by the App Store or Google Play; we do not receive full card details); support communications; and technical, log and security data such as IP address, browser and device type, and server logs (usage, error and security logs) used to operate, troubleshoot and secure the app, including rate-limiting and preventing abuse.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (e.g. health, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation) and do not use facial recognition. Photos and their precise location can incidentally reveal sensitive information (e.g. a place of worship); by uploading them you consent to the processing described here, and you can delete any photo at any time.

How we use data

To provide the service (store photos, generate AI travel stories), map and group photos by location, authenticate and secure your account, process purchases, respond to support, send transactional emails, and maintain, debug and improve the app. We send only service (transactional) emails such as login codes and account notifications; we do not currently send marketing emails or newsletters, and if we introduce them they will be consent-based with an unsubscribe link. Uploaded photos are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) for analysis and automated NSFW moderation; photos failing the check are automatically deleted. The AI-generated results (photo descriptions, place names and groupings, and travel stories) are saved to your account as part of your trips; you can view, edit, regenerate or delete them, and they are shared only in trips you choose to make public. This moderation is the only automated decision made about your content (its only effect is deletion of a flagged photo); we do not profile you or make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, and you can contact us to request a human review of a removal.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)); your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for AI processing of photos and third-party sign-in, which you may withdraw at any time; legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to secure, troubleshoot and improve the service; and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) for tax/accounting records and lawful requests.

Recipients and sub-processors

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the providers needed to run the app: Supabase (hosting, database, auth and file storage — photos, account data, generated content, logs); OpenAI (AI analysis and moderation — your photos); Google, Apple and Microsoft (single sign-on — basic profile/identity, only if you sign in with them); Apple App Store and Google Play (payment processing — purchase confirmations; we do not receive full card details); and an email delivery provider (your email address, to send service emails). We may also disclose data where required by law or in a business transfer.

Cookies and local storage

Wander Bot uses your browser's local storage (not advertising cookies) to keep you signed in and to remember a few preferences such as your last view on the 3D globe and your last visit to a shared trip. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies, tracking pixels, or marketing SDKs. You can clear this data in your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep photos, account/profile data and generated content while your account is active and delete them (including from backups within a reasonable period) when you delete them or your account. Billing/tax records are kept as long as required by law (currently 7 years under Dutch tax law); technical and security logs and support messages are kept for a limited period; photos failing moderation are deleted immediately.

Your rights

You can access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and export your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email [email protected] stating which right you wish to exercise and the email on your account; we may verify your identity and respond within one month (free of charge). You can also delete photos, trips and your account in the app.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — in particular in the country where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement of your rights occurred.

You must be at least 16. You keep ownership of the photos and content you upload and grant us a licence to host and process them to provide the app; you warrant you have the rights to upload them. Prohibited content (illegal, infringing, or explicit) is not allowed and explicit content is automatically removed. AI-generated stories may be inaccurate and are for personal use. Wander Bot is currently free; optional one-time, consumable storage-token purchases may be offered later, processed via the App Store or Google Play and generally non-refundable except where required by law.
